About the Forum

Dear Colleagues

On September 7, 2008 the “Baltic & North Sea Forum of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine” has been formally founded. The forum aims at the promotion of communication, education and science in the Field of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine and related fields in the countries with borders to the Baltic Sea and the North Sea. This purpose can be reached by organisation of congresses, symposia, seminars and workshops, communication via internet (webpage, e-mails), newsletters, journals and others, support of the exchange of scientist in the region and promotion of young scientists, support for cooperative scientific projects in the region scientific advice to governmental and non-governmental organisations in the field of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine and related fields, scientific support for organisation of people with disabilities and/or chronic diseases, and other activities.

The Baltic & North Sea Forum addresses to all specialists in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine as well as residents, trainees and candidates of countries situated the Baltic Sea and the North Sea (Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Sweden, United Kingdom). The first congress of the Baltic & North Sea Forum will be held in Stockholm in April 14-17, 2010.

Members of the Executive Committee are: Christoph Gutenbrunner (Germany, President), Aivars Vetra (Latvia; President elect), Anthony Ward (United Kingdom, Board Member), Kristian Borg (Sweden, Board Member), Alvydas Joucevicius (Lithuanuia, Secretary) and Varje Tuulik (Estonia, Treasurer).

The Baltic and North Sea Forum can do a successful work only if many specialists in Physical and Rehabilitation will join the forum and participate actively in the Forums projects. The Baltic & North Sea Forum work is based on individual membership. Only individual members have the right to vote in the General assembly. However, a Regional Forum Advisory Board will be founded soon, based on delegates from each member country.

With this letter we want to stimulate specialists for Physical and rehabilitation Medicine to become member of the Baltic & North Sea Forum. Please use attached form to apply for membership. Annual membership dues are 30.00 Euros.

Please don’t hesitate to send you any proposals and comments and let us know hwat your opinion abot the Baltic & North Sea Forum of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine is.
